Christian, Meet The Local Church
Nov. 6 2007In our generation the local church needs an introduction.
The local church is often seen as optional, it’s no longer assumed. It’s more irrelevant than important. It’s a nice accessory for your Christian walk but if you can’t find one...there are more than enough campus ministries, bible studies, breakfasts, or prayer meetings to try.
There’s just one problem: The local church is all over the New Testament. From the forming of the first local church in Jerusalem to the letters to specific churches in Revelation, local churches are established and strengthened.
So we want to reintroduce you to local church. But we know that the local church is a huge topic (theology, structure, participation, relationships with those in church). So we’re taking more than a week or even a month to talk about the church. We’re taking extended time to get reacquainted with God’s plan for the local church and learn how we can participate.
So to start our series on the church we recommend you listen to Mark Dever’s excellent message from New Attitude 2002 “The Importance of a Local Church.”
The message is possibly the best introduction to the local church you’ll find. Mark Dever covers what a local church is and why it’s important to the life of a christian. (Pastors and ministry leaders this message is a great resource for new Christians or Christians new to the church.>

Stay with us for the next few months. See why God is passionate about the local church and why you should be too.
