This year at Na we gave all the shirt profits to build wells in Uganda and then sold $10 bookmarks and gave the profits to send Bible to Uganda. Your response was amazing. We raised $3,000 to build wells in Uganda and, get this, $19,000 to send Bibles to Uganda.

Doug Hayes leads the ministry, Covenant Mercies, that will be building the wells and getting the Bibles to Uganda. We asked him to give you a better idea of what these funds will mean to the people receiving clean water and Bibles…

The Troubled Soul: God’s Word and Our Feelings
Psalm 42

1. “No one is more influential in your life than you are because no one talks to you more than you do. You’re in an unending conversation with yourself. You’re thanking to yourself all the time, interpreting, organizing, and analyzing what’s going on inside you and around you.” Paul Tripp

C.J. Mahaney closed out Na 2008 with Session 8, God as Father: Understanding the Doctrine of Adoption in God’s Word, an exposition of Galatians 4:1-7. C.J. began his message by boldly stating, “God is eager to reveal himself to each and everyone present as Father” and, after reading the text, prayed a moving prayer that Christians would be freshly affected by the doctrine of adoption and…

Session 7, John Piper

After a three hour break, John Piper again took the stage and delivered Session 7, Fighting for Faith with God’s Word. Drawing upon 1 Timothy 6:12, 1 Corinthians 9:26, and 2 Timothy 4:7 and the call to fight the fight of faith, Piper issued 5 observations and clarifications regarding the fight of faith and 2 practical ways

Session 6, John Piper

For Session 5 John Piper took the stage with his biographical message, William Tyndale: A Life Transformed By God’s Word. Before launching into his message, Piper took pause to express his deep affection and gratitude for the ministry of New Attitude ("I love the vision of humble orthodoxy") and Sovereign Grace Ministries.

Next, Piper told the story of William Tyndale who “had one driving passion: he wanted to…

My good friend Eric Simmons delivered the message for Session 5, What’s the Point?: Growing in Vision for Diligent Study.

Josh Harris introduced Eric as a man that “has style,” “drives a Jeep,” “is cool,” and “is a good teacher and leader.” I agree with Josh on all these points, Eric is one of my “coolest” friends, though I’m going to subtract a few cool points from Eric…

Taking the stage with much applause (a half standing ovation), C.J. Mahaney delivered Session 4, The Troubled Soul: God’s Word and Our Feelings, an exposition of Psalm 42.

For his introduction C.J. shared a lengthy quote from “the most influential book on counseling” that he’s ever read, Paul David Tripp, Instruments in the Redeemer’s Hands. A few excerpts from…

More Na Worship

I’ve enjoyed the variety in the worship here at Na. Presently, a fifteen string orchestra is accompanying the Na Band. Earlier today, rapper Shai Linne led us in worship and performed a song from his new album, The Atonement. Below are the lyrics to the song Shai performed for us, Were You There?

Were You There?

This story starts at…

Session 3, Al Mohler

Session 3 was an unprecedented event at Na. Instead of delivering a message/sermon, Al Mohler (sporting a pink dress shirt) conducted the first ever Na Q&A session. Scores of people flocked to the two floor microphones in hopes making it through the line and asking Dr. Mohler their questions about the Bible. I counted just over sixty people lined up at the microphones. As you would expect, due to time…

Session 2, Mark Dever

Mark Dever gave the message for Session 2, The Authority of Scripture. Mark began his message by establishing the importance of the issue of authority, quoting J.I. Packer, “The problem of authority is the most fundamental problem Christianity ever faces. This is because Christianity is built upon a foundation of truth.” Christians continue to understand and insist that the Scripture is and must be our authority, even in an age…

Na Worship/Na Band

It’s Sunday morning here at Na. Our time of worship is coming to a close and Mark Dever is soon to take the stage. One of the great highlights here at Na is the extended, passionate sessions of singing and worship. This may be my favorite part of the conference--singing to Jesus with 3,500 people who cherish the gospel. Devon Kauflin does a tremendous job leading the Na worship band…

Session 1, Josh Harris

Josh Harris kicked off the conference with a message entitled, “Ripping, Burning, Eating: A Right Response to God’s Word.”

Before diving into his message Josh did two things. First, he issued a challenge for conference attendees to, here at the outset of the conference, leave behind self-preoccupation/self-consciousness, stating, “Let’s not be preoccupied with what other people are thinking about us, let’s be preoccupied with what God is…
