idea #7: take notes well
May. 22 2008A few note taking tips:
_If you’re trying to get down every word, forget it (especially when Mark Dever speaks). Don’t write so much that you forget to listen.
_Some people write notes to help them listen (you know who you are!). If it helps you focus, by all means do what you need to do.
_Whatever you do, write enough to help you remember the main points message.
_Aim to capture specific things that hit a chord and apply to your life. You can get the exact wording of a point later, just don’t forget parts of the message that specifically encourage you, convict you, and challenge you.

Hannah Williams on Thu May 22, 2008 at 2:04 pmI find it helpful to try to write down things that strike me… like something a speaker says that is put in a way I have never thought of before, or just so eloquent it is worth remembering.
Jon on Thu May 22, 2008 at 9:56 pmThanks for the tips; this will definitely be a good change of pace and that I don’t need to take down EVERY single note unlike back in grad school! Plus, the content is SO much more significant than what’s taught in classes!
Jon - excellent comments… ‘nuf said!
ONE MORE DAY! =D =D
BriARRRRAHWN on Fri May 23, 2008 at 11:50 amShame I can’t be with you happy people down at Na this year...will listen to the MP3s though. I will say this: I can’t imagine going to church with my jumbo-sized, square-ruled, A4 notebook. I have the attention span of a goldfish, and have had since I was small, so note-taking has been one way of keeping me alert and attentive.

Wow.... I cannot beleive that it’s been a whole year since the last New Attitude - the older I get the faster time passes. This will be my 6th NA and I am soooo excited.
I am SO one of those people that takes notes to pay attention *lol* (or to keep me from WRITING notes, my CG leader gets more notes after the sunday sermon....
), but that’s such a good reminder not to get so into writing down the exact quotes and everything that I am not allowing God’s words to really hit my heart and not really listening. Thanks!
