So I’m going to be posting some ideas on how to prepare yourself for the conference. Here’s the first one:

Meet with God personally during the conference, not just in the sessions.

Taking time to meet with God to have your personal devotions during the conference really matters. Sure, you may be hearing all sorts of great biblical truth and spending more time than usual talking with other Christians and singing worship to God several times a day, but taking the time to meet God and speak to him personally is where the change in your own heart will take place.

So plan for this. Be willing to skip a card game to go speak to the Savior you’ve been singing to during worship. Get your friends and roommates on board so they understand if somebody ducks out early. Let’s not neglect meeting with God.

I can’t wait!! Thank you so much for posting about the need to meet with the Savior face to face amidst the frenzy of intense late-night fellowship, passionate worship, and numerous rich sessions so characteristic of NA!! in years past (when I was younger and could stay up ‘till 3am and actually be coherent for the AM sessions!), that was not really a priority in my heart, sad to say. But, by God’s precious grace and through the encouragement of this particular post, I am excited about engaging the Lord one-on-one and meditating upon the truths that will be presented afresh at NA08. Thank you, as well, Eric, for all that you and the NA team have done this past year to prepare for this amazing conference...8 more days!! God Bless!

Thanks for putting on the conference. I’ve gone for the last two years. Each year the conference has ministered to me. I’ll go again this year.

Thanks for the encouragement to spend time with the Lord. It’s a great reminder to make a priority of what is SO EASY for me to let fall by the wayside! Thanks Eric! This is my 9th NA, I’m so excited!!! Thank you to the NA Admin. and Creative teams! Ya’ll are incredible servants and I am so grateful for you. I have been praying that God will empower you and bless you in the next couple days of craziness. Thank you for serving us so well!!!

Thanks so much. I remember that you posted last year some suggestions on how to prepare before the conference and they were SO helpful. I’m grateful you’re posting on this again - its such a needed reminder.
