something to remember

A few weeks ago I was at a conference on preaching.  It was a blast.

(Though I’ll tell you--being in a classroom all week gave me much sympathy for college students. How do you pay attention like that for 6 hours? Man!)

Anyway, Mike Bullmore, a pastor from Crossway Church in Wisconsin, was teaching on I Corinthians 1 and he used an illustration that’s stuck in my mind. Mike shared that when he was a teenager his father would say something to him every time he would go out with his friends. His dad simply said to him:

“Mike, Remember who you are.”

Remember who you are. You are a Christian. A child of the living God. A citizen of the Kingdom of God. You have professed allegiance to Jesus, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

What a powerful thing for us to consider as we go out into the world.  When you go out your door here’s something to remember:

Remember who you are.

Thanks Eric! Great reminder. Our pastors say that a lot. We just with through Mark as a church and now we’re in 1 Peter. Our senior pastor says, “Be who you already are”. You are a Christian, you’re saved and forgiven. That is a fact and done deal. Now act like you are!

ditto, thanks for the reminder!
It seems so simple to remember! I ask God to keep this in the forefront of my mind as I go to school and work. And not only remember, but act upon it.
