Welcome to Na 2008
May 24 2008Welcome to the Na 2008 Liveblog. Approximately 3,500 singles and young married couples are crowding outside the doors here at the Louisville (pronunciation options: Looavul, Luavul, Loueville, Looaville, or Looeyville) Convention Center waiting to take their seats. Wait…it’s 7pm…the doors just opened…everyone is now rushing the convention center, trying to snag seats near the stage. In thirty minutes the conference officially kicks off.
I’ve been to a lot of Christian conferences, but this is my first Na conference and the first time I’ve experienced such an energetic, excited crowd. I wish you could hear the music and the voices that are filling this room right now. I wish you could feel the bass. My chair is shaking.
The theme of this year’s conference centers on the Word of God. Our conference guidebook summarizes the theme of the conference both in a single sentence and in two paragraphs.
The single-sentence summary:
“If the Bible really is God’s Word, Then we’re called to delight in it and obey it.”
The two-paragraph summary:
“For the next four days we’ll explore the certainty, sufficiency, and relevance of Scripture by letting Scripture speak for itself. Our hope and prayer is that after this encounter with God’s Word, we’ll never read our Bibles the same way again.
“We want to come face to face with the words of God, dig into them, be humbled by them, and let them become our joy and delight. And when we leave here we want to take what we’ve learned back to our local churches.”
This is a great conference theme. Over the next four days I’ll do my best to live-blog how this theme is being promoted, chiefly through the eight General Sessions where we’ll hear messages from Josh Harris, Mark Dever, Al Mohler, C.J. Mahaney, Eric Simmons, and John Piper.

Thank you very much for doing the live-blog, is really a blessing. I was suppost to be there with my wife (she’s interpreting into spanish) but I hurt my right knee and need it to stay home, so you know I be here every single second of this conference. Thank you very much.
