New Attitude has a new name, new lineup of speakers, and a new location. A lot is changing for 2009.

Brandy Brandenburg. Na 04.

In November of 2003 I had reached a season of discouragement. In God’s sovereignty, I went to a bookstore one night and saw that Joshua Harris had written another book- and in it I found a link to New Attitude Website. I immediately went home and looked up the website and that is how I learned of the upcoming “LAST” New Attitude Conference in Louisville, KY. I battled within myself as to whether or not to attend. I was out of college, and would not know any other person attending the conference. I recall emailing the email address for “more info"- and a very kind godly young lady (Charissa Galbraith) began corresponding with me. She responded to all of my questions and encouraged me to attend despite my reservations. I remember even then, being truly touched by God through her kindness to me.

I remember arriving and the very first night of the conference, and I was overwhelmed with the number of people my age there to worship God. It was like nothing I’d experienced before. Joshua Harris had all the people alone there stand up. I hesitantly stood up, and was immediately greeted by the people around me, and one girl named Evy. She offered to walk with me to our community groups and she introduced me to some of her friends. Again, I was touched by God’s kindness to me through her reaching out to me. We went from community groups to family groups, and immediately as we were seeking to get to know one another I just knew this weekend was going to be life changing for me.

I struggled a great deal during the weekend. I was hearing truth I had never heard before and I wrestled within myself to determine whether or not what I was seeing and hearing was something to invest in. I remember hearing the song, “The Wonderful Cross’ and part of me became angry: “How could all these people sing about the cross being wonderful? It was horrible, devastating, cruel, certainly not wonderful.”

Slowly throughout the weekend all of my misconceptions of what the Gospel really meant were slowly taken away. My family group leader, Mike, was very kind to explain all the things I didn’t understand and he also helped me to see the importance of finding a local church to commit to so that I could truly grow in Godliness. I didn’t want to leave New Attitude. I didn’t know what to do with all the information I was learning and I wanted so much to continue what had been started, and I desired fellowship alongside believers my age. By the end of the weekend I had a greater passion for God’s word, His Church and I could sing, “The Wonderful Cross” and truly rejoice in what God had done for me.
