Resie Manahan. Na 2006.
Prior to NA 2006, I had been to Na 2002 & Na 2004. In my heart, I was contemplating, that Na 06 would be my last conference and then I would move on. I was feeling old surrounded by the young crowd. After I heard Mike Bullmore’s message on Applying the Gospel to All of Life and his question “How does the Gospel speak to my heart and how does the Gospel connect into my thinking and my behavior?”- I was gripped by this question.
He also mentioned that all of our problems are connected from failure to apply the Gospel. What an eye-opening truth for me. I will not forget when he quoted 1 Corinthians 15:3 and used his five fingers to show that this is the Gospel: “Christ died for our sins." What a refreshing way to remind me that all of my longing and desires has to be connected to something bigger - the Truth that He died for me and that the power to do what He called me to do is only made possible because of what He did on the Cross.
Needless to say, my decision was changed and replaced by something bigger than I can imagine. God reminded me when he found me when I was twenty and laid in my heart to serve these young people at Na. I applied to volunteer at NA and since NA 2007 I have had the privilege to usher and pray for the big crowd of excited and energetic NA attendees. I found so much joy and encouragement doing this. Truly the Gospel has connected and transformed my thoughts, feelings and deeds. Thanks and Glory be to God!
